January Newsletter

Happy New Year! As we embark on another exciting year, we would like to take a moment to reflect on the incredible activities and achievements that made 2023 a memorable year for the Logan Village Community Centre.

Logan and Beaudesert Bushwalkers: A Year of Adventure

The Logan and Beaudesert Bushwalkers have had an adventurous year, filled with shared experiences in the great outdoors. From regular Saturday strolls to challenging Sunday hikes, the group has explored the beauty of nature, spanning from local trails to distant destinations. Highlights include a 10-day through-walk in Tassie, a trek at Carnarvon, a 4-day kayaking trip up the Noosa River, and a club expedition to Nepal for the Annapurna Base Camp.

As we welcome 2024, the group has an exciting timetable of walks and camps lined up. You can find more details in the club newsletter or on our Facebook page. Join us on these outdoor escapades and make memories that will last a lifetime!

Southside Spinners Weavers and Dyers Group: Crafting Connections

The Southside Spinners Weavers and Dyers Group, nestled at The Old School House, has been fostering creativity and camaraderie for 30 years. Meeting every Tuesday from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, the group is currently on a well-deserved summer break, set to resume on January 30th, 2024.

In 2023, the group celebrated its 30th anniversary, a remarkable milestone. As they gear up for 2024, the focus is on greater community involvement, promoting crafts like spinning, weaving, and dyeing. For inquiries, reach out to ssdwgroup@gmail.com or contact Marg Newman at 0418157251.

Logan Village Community Craft Cottage: A Hub of Creativity

The Logan Village Community Craft Cottage, a cornerstone of creativity for almost 30 years, has seen various locations but remains rooted on the Village Green. This welcoming space provides local craftspeople with an opportunity to share skills, learn new ones, and foster a sense of community.

Operating seven days a week, the Cottage opens its doors from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm on weekdays and 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on weekends. In 2023, the Cottage actively participated in community events, including the 160th Anniversary of the Settlement of Logan Village, where a successful Tea House was run.

The Cottage's annual Christmas Cave delighted visitors seeking unique gifts. Additionally, the Craft Cottage was nominated in 2023 for a Logan City Council Volunteer Award for its outstanding contributions to community projects.

As the Cottage temporarily closes from December 22nd to January 15th for a well-deserved break, we look forward to another year of creativity, community engagement, and giving back through our various projects.

We invite all members of the Logan Village Community to explore the diverse activities and events offered at the Logan Village Community Centre. For a detailed schedule, please visit our What's On page and stay connected with us through our newsletters and social media channels.

Wishing you a fantastic 2024 filled with joy, adventure, and community spirit!

Best Regards,

Logan Village Community Centre
